On behalf of the International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX) and our more than 50 member societies worldwide, it is my great honor to welcome you to the 17th International Congress of Toxicology (ICTXVII) in the dynamic city of Beijing, China. This meeting marks a truly special occasion as we gather at the crossroads of history, culture, and cutting-edge science to advance our shared mission: improving global health through toxicology.
Our colleagues from the Chinese Society of Toxicology, together with the local organizing committee, have prepared an exceptional program that reflects both the diversity and the unity of our field. The scientific sessions will highlight the latest advances, ranging from molecular mechanisms and safety assessment to environmental health and regulatory science. They are also designed to foster dialogue on how toxicology can respond to urgent global challenges, including sustainability, public health resilience, and emerging technologies.
As is the tradition of ICT, this Congress is not only a forum for exchanging data and ideas, but also an opportunity to build new collaborations and renew friendships. IUTOX is proud to serve as the global platform connecting toxicologists across continents, disciplines, and generations. In Beijing, I encourage each of you to take full advantage of the rich scientific discussions, networking opportunities, and cultural experiences that await.
The week also brings our General Assembly, where we will review the progress and achievements since our last congress in Maastricht. We will also vote on ICT and CTDC venues and elect the new IUTOX Executive committee. It will also mark a leadership transition, as I hand over the Presidency to Dr. Martin Wilks. This handover symbolizes not only continuity but also renewal, and I am confident that under Martin’s leadership, IUTOX will continue to grow and adapt to the ever-changing needs of our field.
I would like to express my deep appreciation to our hosts at the Chinese Society of Toxicology for their dedication in organizing this meeting and for welcoming us with the warmth and hospitality that so deeply reflect Chinese cultural values of respect, generosity, and community. I also extend gratitude to our member societies, speakers, sponsors, and participants, whose commitment and contributions make ICTXVII possible and ensure its success.
Looking ahead, I encourage you to remain engaged with IUTOX and join us at future congresses and educational programs, including the 13th Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (May 18-21, 2027) and the next International Congress of Toxicology (ICTXVIII) in Vancouver, Canada (June 11-14, 2028) -- as we continue working together to advance toxicology worldwide. For now, let us celebrate this milestone in Beijing, where tradition meets innovation, and where our science can chart the path toward safer and healthier societies.
Welcome to ICTXVII; I wish you an inspiring and memorable week!
Warm regards,
