Abstract: Cannabis has been used in Thai Traditional Medicine for centuries as a natural remedy for various ailments. The Department of Thai Traditional & Alternative Medicine (DTAM) advocates a holistic approach to health that uses plants, herbs, and other natural substances to treat the body, mind, and spirit. Thailand's approach to medical cannabis is a leading example in the global health and wellness industry. With a long history of traditional use for over 360 years, cannabis has played a significant role in Thai medicine. This seminar explores the exciting potential of combining this traditional knowledge with modern Western medicine to drive innovation in healthcare. Thailand's 2021 Narcotics Code reflects the government's strategic vision for the country as a regional medical hub. This legislation allows for the commercial use of cannabis and hemp, creating new economic opportunities. The presentation aims to review the potential benefits of critical herbal formulas provided in Thai Traditional Medicine containing cannabis or combined herbs and remedies with Cannabidiol (CBD), one of the major compounds extracted from the cannabis plant, in controlling inflammation and wound healing. Research related to the beneficial effects of CBD-containing herbal formulas could increase the efficiency of Thai herbal medicine in contemporary healthcare therapy and provide insight into future studies on the usefulness of Thai Traditional Medicine in relieving disease symptoms.
