Bio: Prof. Wang Xiaonan, researcher at the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences. The primary research areas include ecotoxicology, environmental quality criteria, and risk assessment. In detailed, research areas include the ecotoxicological effects and mechanisms of typical environmental pollutants on aquatic and terrestrial organisms, development of environmental quality criteria for these pollutants, and conduction of ecological risk assessment studies. Prof. Wang has published over 70 papers and 7 books, holds more than 10 patents.
Abstract: We have conducted toxicity studies on aquatic and terrestrial organisms for heavy metals and emerging pollutants, with toxicity indicators including both acute and chronic toxicity. We have derived environmental quality criteria for the above-mentioned pollutants using the Species Sensitivity Distribution (SSD) method and the Assessment Factor method. We have also sampled and conducted environmental analyses, and combined with the collected environmental exposure data, we have carried out multi-level ecological risk assessment studies for typical pollutants. Our research provides technical support for the formulation and revision of environmental quality criteria and standards for these pollutants, as well as for environmental risk management.
