Bio: Standing Committee Member of the committee of cosmetics safety and scientific supervision, Chinese Society of Toxicology. With over 10 years of experience in Advanced Research at L’Oreal, Lizao is responsible for the development and promotion of in vitro safety assessment test methods in China. These methods include the cell-based U-SENS™ test method for skin sensitization and skin irritation, corrosion, and eye irritation methods based on EpiSkin, SkinEthic™ RHE, and SkinEthic™ HCE models. Lizao has published multiple articles on in vitro test methods and integrated testing strategies in domestic and international journals and at international academic conferences. 

Abstract: Both SkinEthicTM Reconstructed Human Epidermal (RHE) skin irritation/corrosion test and SkinEthicTM Human Cornea Epithelium (HCE) Eye irritation test are internationally accepted OECD test method used to detect the skin irritation (OECD TG439) / skin corrosion (OECD TG431) and eye irritation (OECD TG492 and TG492B) properties of chemicals. They have been showed to be robust and transferable.

The demonstration will showcase the complete testing procedure, from tissue receipt and chemical treatment, endpoint measurement, and data interpretation. Hands-on training will allow participants to gain practical experience in performing the assays.

This training aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to confidently implement these alternative methods for regulatory compliance and reduce reliance on animal testing for safety assessment.
