Gabriela Aguirre is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Arturo Prat University, Iquique. She holds a degree in Marine Biology from Arturo Prat University (2004) and a Master's degree in Water and Coastal Management from the University of Plymouth, the University of Cadiz, the University of Bergen, and the University of the Algarve (2008).She holds an International PhD in Management and Conservation of the sea  from the University of Cádiz, Spain (2014). In 2015, she obtained a postdoctoral position at the University of Cádiz and from 2017 to 2019, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Ocean Pollution Research Program of Ocean Wise and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada.  Her research focuses on the evaluation of toxicological responses induced by emerging contaminants in aquatic organisms. She has participated on several national and international research projects focused on the ecotoxicology of emerging pollutants.  Associate Editor of the Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology and the Iberoamerican Journal of Toxicology. She is part if the extended editorial board of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety journal. She is the coordinator of the Master's program in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the coordinator of the PhD program in Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Arturo Prat University.
